TORONTO — When Debrah and Joel Weiss first moved to Toronto, they wanted nothing more than a proper house with a sprawling yard and lush garden. Four decades later, the retired couple is part of the condo craze — lured by the promise of a life free of clearing snow and scooping out eavestroughs, drawn to the gleaming glass-and-steel towers and newly scrubbed factory conversions that are reshaping Canada’s urban lifestyle. After years of living in cramped apartments in New York City, the Weisses craved space — enough to hold a few kids without forcing anyone to share a room, as they...

A recent interview I had done with Business New Daily. You see them plastered on everything from magazine pages and sidewalk displays to product signs and transit advertising. They look like boxy Rorschach inkblots and they’re frequently accompanied by an arrow and the bold-type guidance, “scan me.” Welcome to the growing world of Quick Response (QR) codes. They’re 2-D bar codes, typically black and white, that can be scanned by a smartphone with a code-reading application. Also known as matrix codes, they come in many shapes and sizes and provide a fast and easy way to transfer information...

Buy? Sell? Should Canadians buy into real estate or not?

Posted by: Addy Saeed    Tags:  canadian real estate prices, market bubble, real estate values, yahoo finance    Posted date:  November 8, 2011  |  No comment

This was a recent interview I had done with Yahoo Finance.  They give a balanced view of what the future of the real estate market is.  Please feel free to share your thougths: It’s either the best of times to buy a house, or the worst of times. A conflicting sea of economic factors doesn’t help matters as on-the-fence Canadians try to decide whether to take the plunge into home ownership. With prices rising, it may seem like an easy choice to lock in now. But with continued economic uncertainty due to the stagnating American recovery and its effect here, some Canadians are feeling...

Designed by local architect George W. Gouinlock in a Romanesque Revival that would Old City Hall would come to compliment a few years after its construction in 1896, the Temple Building was arguably the first skyscraper built in Toronto, and the tallest building in the city for a brief period.
